our services
Dr Sally Lord has worked in Clinical Psychology Services across all age ranges for over twenty years, specialising in young people’s mental health for over 17 years. She has experience working across different areas of young people’s mental health including from early intervention and mild difficulties up to moderate, severe and enduring mental health concerns. Sally is experienced and skilled in working with children, adolescents and young adults, and their families, and continues to work within the NHS alongside private practice.

Lighthouse Psychology offers highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy to young people and their families who are struggling with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties. This assessment can include Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment (ASD assessment) and ADHD assessment where indicated. We can offer consultation to those involved in supporting the young person if thought to be helpful. Further services include supervision of clinicians using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) or IPT-A (Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents) with the child and adolescent population.
Models that Sally has extensive experience with include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), adapted CBT for specific conditions (eating disorders and trauma), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents (IPT-A). She also has training in a number of models to support parents to manage behaviours (Solihul and Incredible Years).

Sally uses a range of assessment tools alongside history taking and observations to ensure a thorough understanding of your difficulties. This is usually carried out with the young person themselves and often includes others such as parents, carers or teachers. Sally is skilled in integrating these models and approaches and works collaboratively to agree tailored treatment plans.
Occasionally assessment or therapy directly with a young person is not always what is required or of benefit. In these situations, Lighthouse Psychology Services may offer psychological consultation to help family members and/or professionals better understand and support young people’s difficulties.
